Default Resevoir Capacitor

Hi all, I have rewired my kat34 and am in the process of mounting 4 rather large Mundorf m-tube caps (100uf)...my question is C5 is a 120uf 500v and i am finding it dificult to find a direct replacement...Mundorf do a 100uf or 150uf...would either of these be ok to use without changing anything else in the amp? and if it would be ok..then what would the difference in sound be when using a larger value capacitor in this position?

Thanks

Alon.

I have a 100uF Mundorf tube cap in my KaT34 ( C 5 ) , it was a nice improvement on the standard electrolytic one used as standard , and no problems with the rating .

both values will be ok, with the 100uf you might notice a slight increase in treble, with the 150uf there could be a slight increase in bass,

Hm why use Mundorf?

Still if you really must, why not Google (or a deep eBay scan) Mundorf and you will get some one somewhere .........

Yeah...good question Andrew...i dont know really...i guess i was looking for a mundorf because i heard they was good and thought i would just keep all the psu caps as mundorf...but as you rightly point out i guess i dont have to. Are there any caps that you would recommend in this position?

Thanks

Alon

In my experience the only PSU cap that makes a difference, within reason, is Black Gate WKZ; but very very expensive.

Why not try the JJ electrolytic caps that for example, Bluebellaudio sell? I use them here and there.
