I've just printed the Maplins Millenium schematic, never knew Maplins did Valve amps, must have been before my time! It looks like there might be a kit coming along.

Hi-Maplin DID do valve amps and bits, but DONT now.

This company did the design work and supplied the components to Maplins and now supply direct.

in one of the old DIY supplements i seem to remember they reviewed the maplins version of the 5-20 ? and it was rated as "alright" but not a patch on the WAD kits.

Hi all

But no way as good as the Hammonds, I have had both in amps and the otheres seem to be a little light on bass, you wont beat Hammonds for the price and quality, have you seen the price of the cheap single ended ones very good.

The Maplin millenium amp is better than no valve amp at all.
But only just.
I'm keeping mine in case I come across some nice transformers for it one day.

Hi Acorn
I am thinking of building the 5-20 with mikes transformers when you say not as good as the hammonds are you refering to the original trans for the maplin as he has uprated the trans for the 5-20
