Cool Re: Tasty DD on Ebay...

Why would it worry you to death David. Have you ever worked or lived amongst these people - I have. When a Turk gives you his word, it has real value.

I've always found that an honest man or woman is just that - it has nothing to do with race, creed or colour.

There is something truly wonderful about this BB. I post a picture of a turntable because it achieved almost mythical status when I was young and impressionable, and I want to share my excitement at finally seeing a decent picture of it.
Within three posts, the thread has turned into a dicussion on the morality of the Turkish nation. I'm not being sarky here, I really do think it's wonderful!

I totally agree! It's what makes this BB more than just an audio gear question/answer type talking shop.

It's more like being sat in the pub with a pint of Witham Wobbler and your mates with lively discussion branching off in all directions!

This post seems an awfully long time ago now.

Of all the people who post on this forum, the only ones I've met in the flesh are Peter, who I've known for years, and the Bristol show contingent (Greg, Lilolee, and Richard), but I've formed a pretty clear picture of the regulars, and can easily put in a "he would say that, wouldn't he" filter on any posts that are a little controversial. Obviously, there are issues here that go back a long way, and Greg in particular seems to have a valid grievance, but a large part of the pleasure I get from visiting the forum comes from the variety of outlook of the different contributors, so I do find Stuart's as entertaining as any, and as with everyone else's, I have learned when to value his opinion and when to take it with a pinch of salt. The forum would be a worse place without him!

From my own point of view, I worry that I also take far more from the forum than I give to it, but fortunately no-one seems to have noticed yet...

I wonder what went wrong with the sale?

I think it was my fault for suggesting that buying from Turkey was fraught with danger

Don't worry David, you weren't to know.

And anyway, it certainly produced a rivetting thread (If a little hair-raising), and I now have the benefit of knowing that the next time I go steaming up the M5 part Bristol, the jam sandwich on my tail might have a friendly face in it!
