Default Mundorf MCap EVO Aluminium Oil

Hi all, a few weeks ago my chum asked me to fit said capacitors in his Phono III, I told him he would not like them, less than 2 hours later, he said, can you refit the orange ones, these are ****, I said I told you so, so 2 off 2.2uF 450v and 2 off .1uF 650v with less than 2 hours use, they cost him around £35.00 from Hi-Fi collective, free to a regular member, and this will be my decision, but I think a small donation to the NHS in these difficult times would be welcomed. Bob

I hope these were run in for a bit longer than the two hours he spent listening with them installed!

I think these have their place but the orange drops are fiercely difficult to best in the phono stage.

No, I doubt they even did the two hours, but he disliked the HF sting from the start. Bob

Funny Bob but I think the Orange Drops are pretty damn good too, I have to say that I pretty much use decent Vishay polyester films in most of my prototypes and with very few exceptions that's what they stay with.
maybe I have cloth ears, who can say, it's been a while since my last hearing test as I've been retired for nearly 5 years now but the last one I had the company nurse insisted on me repeating the test as I could just about hear the 20kHz tone. My hearing will undoubtedly have gone a bit worse as I get older but I do find I am still very sensitive to the treble frequencies.
I'm fairly cynical about the magical qualities of capacitors but I do wonder if the oil types exhibit a tendency to pass the higher frequencies?

That's a very good offer Bob and anyone wishing to have a play with them would get good value for a sensible donation. I'd have a play but in truth I am very happy with things as they are on my Phono3S.

A.

That's sad Bob.

I have no immediate need and didn't want to be greedy.

Never mind.
