PM message not registered or sent
Hi Peter,
I'm currently in PM discussion (forgive me Lord) with another forum member regarding the original WAD 300PP. Tonight I responded to his latest question. It took me a while to complete my reply because during composition, I had to get the base off my own amp to verify some component values etc. I also used his last message, but truncated it down to a quote of the relevent section and then made my reply. I sent the reply. On checking my sent message box, nothing I spent over an hour on was reproduced and all that's been sent to him is a copy of his full original last post. Therefore no regard to the truncation I made to his message to facilitate my reply. There must be a function error here because a week or so ago I was a recipient of a PM that also presented itself in the same way with no text added as the sender had attempted, but my original message to him was quoted back in isolation. I hope you can sort this. Frustrated from Bristol! Greg |

I'll send you a test PM to see if we can help sort out what is going wrong.

Re: PM message not registered or sent
Hi Peter,
I've noticed from one of the other threads that Greg is not alone in experiencing problems with the PM system, and I too suspect a couple of my messages have not been delivered. Thanks. Mike. |

Re: PM message not registered or sent
Our tests ran OK, so don't know what was going on there.
We get a number of notifications daily of PMs not being delivered because of the mailbox being full up or the e-mail address not being correct for notification of a PM. It continually surprises me how many forum members do not have their current e-mail address correctly registered. Other than that I cannot see any problem at present. |

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the namedrop. To clarify, I've got no problems with anyone using PMs. I took objection when a newish member asked of the forum a very general and public question about cables. He was warned that he might face too many conflicting and confusing answers and that a private chat might be better. I strongly disagreed, as it is perfectly possible that one of the different trees in the forest of opinions could have floated the questioner's boat more than one in anybody's carefully presented coppice! Long time readers of WAD/WD might find going over the same old ground wearisome, but it is surprising what can come out of going over old ground. For example, the infamous CvH cable was almost a consensus choice a few years back, but now seems to be out of favour with some previous supporters because of its sheer impracticality - who'd have guessed it? Who'd have known it without people giving their revised opinion in that thread? I found your use of the word 'controllers' in that thread to describe myself and Allen (and others?) interesting, given certain posts about the 'What are you listening to' thread and the contents of Martin's 'lol' posts. As I said before: "I don't want to see lively debate sidelined into short discussions via PMs", that's all, no big problem, just a firmly held opinion. And talking of interesting discussions, I'm always interested in any ideas or issues regarding the old 300B PP. As for the PM problem I have experienced this at least once, but I don't tend to use PMs much. I either stick to the BB or use e-mails, either would seem to be currently more reliable than risking the disappearance of a long message. Issues with connections, sessions, timeouts, etceteras could be involved, and it is likely that it could take Peter a long time to work out what the problem is. Going back to the 300B PP and private communication: I'm still moving files via floppy between my two half useful computers, I will get all those scanned 300B PP .jpg articles squeezed down and sent to you (Greg) and NealG soon - honest! A few of them could even get into the gallery - Copyright/Noel/WD-WebServer permitting? |

Re: PM message not registered or sent
Hi Matt
Are your articles later than the originals from Aug and Oct 1993? (sup 4 & 5) I have the later circuit diagram but only those original articles and would like any later stuff. I'd be glad to send the original articles if you have any(?) later stuff and haven't got the original. Rich |

Re: PM message not registered or sent
Hi Rich,
Thanks to Neal and Greg I've got electronic copies of: The September 1994 magazine launch article. (2 pages.) Noel's April 2001 magazine column - probably a eulogy! (1 page.) The November 1998 supplement upgrades article. (3 pages.) I'd like to see the original (TdP?) articles that you have, feel free to send them by e-mail, but beware that my ISP occasionally doesn't like 2MB+ e-mails! So, depending on your scan/file size you might want to send them one page at a time. As soon (soon, ha!) as I get them all into a tight yet readable/prinatable size I'll e-mail the bundle to anyone interested. |

Re: PM message not registered or sent
Hi Matt,
I have the TdP original article. A total of eight pages I think. I'll email you a page at a time. Best wishes, Greg |

Re: PM message not registered or sent
Hi Matt
Thanks, if you mail me the later stuff it would be much appreciated. I got nothing done last night as the power went off here between 7.30 and 12.30. Just as my mate came round with his fancy Pramare ss amp. We'd got 3 tracks into the 300bpp and phut! Went for a curry instead. I see Greg is now sending the early stuff but let me know if you have problems receiving it via email and I'll stick it on my webspace so you can just download it. Rich |
