KEL84: reducing feedback: values?
Hi,
when reducing the feedback in the KEL84, do you all use the resistor/cap values listed in the FAQ, or are there other values that work better in this specific amp? Has anyone been disappointed by this mod, or is it a sure bet winner? I am asking because I don't want to experiment too much on a PCB based amp - I don't want to ruin the PCB. Heavy experimenting is more fun on a handwired amp. Pete |

Re: KEL84: reducing feedback: values?
Hi Pete,
There's no definitive answer; it really is a case of try it and see. The amount suggested in the FAQ is based upon my exp with Kit88. I lowered fb by approx that amount and found it the best in my system (after trying less still which made the sound rather mushy and unfocussed). Several Kel84 owners have done it and reported favourable results. I seem to remember Steve G took off a bit more and thought it better still but, as said, the amount suggested is a good start.
