Attenuation Resistors
Hi
Quick query, Does anyone know the values of resistors to use to get 10db and15db attenuation from an old Maranda CD42 to a WAD HD 83. Making up a new interconnect as it’s a bit loud at the mo Save my old brain working it out Thanks Martin |

Re: Attenuation Resistors
Hi Martin,
Assuming your HD83 has the standard 50K pot installed, the quickest way these days is to use an online speaker L pad calculator and set the speaker value to 50000R. That tells us, use 34188R series followed by 23123R shunt before the 50K pot for -10dB or 41108R series followed by 10814R shunt before the 50K pot for -15dB (The divider shunt is seen in parallel to the pot track value so those values will keep the input resistance at 50K.) Clearly you'd choose the nearest available values from the fixed resistor range, so 33K and 22K or 39K and 10K or similar |

Re: Attenuation Resistors
Thanks Richard. I’ll get some small resistors and make up a couple of cables to see which is best.
It’s just for a medium term fix until I get the preII CF completed.(if I can find all the bits now) The whole system has been off line for several years now. Thanks again Martin |
