Default Heathrow SOUND & VISION SHOW

We will be exhibiting at the Heathrow Sound and Vision Show in the Park Inn, Bath Road from the 22nd until the 24th September.

Our room number is 1946 where we will be demonstrating the new WD88VA with the WD25t speakers and Garrard 401 in a Slatedeck plinth.

Various WD forum members will be in attendance so if you want to come and air your views or ask questions, as well as listen, you are most welcome.

You can save £3 on the attendance fee by donwloading an advance ticket here http://www.chestergroup.org/worldd.html

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hi Peter,

Is it too late to request seeing a KEL84 in the flesh?

I'm still a newbie who hasn't seen one yet alone heard one either yet, any chance of an A/B comparison (KEL84/WD88) for beginners like me?

I'l be there on saturday. I'll be the chirpy little hippy dribbling on your equipment (ooohh errr Missus/Pfffnarr/etc etc)

KEL84 will be there on show, but we can't promise that we can demo it on Saturday as this is probably going to be the most crowded day. If you can find a time when it is quiet, probably at 10am or 5pm, then we may be able to give you a taste of both.

Great to meet you Dave, and you're from my old stamping ground it turned out!

Good to catch up with the other guys I already know.

Wow how great WD's new KT88 amp is? I was really impressed, the speakers too were sounding even better than before, depending where you sat the bass was as usual tuneful.

The slate plinths were looking great and the 401 in slate did it's work effortlessly, a few visitors were surprised at the lack of rumble from the 401 in slate. Someone made me put the runout track on but there was none.

Sorry I couldn't stay all day.

John Caswel looks 5 years younger than he did 5 years ago, which is my excuse for not imediately recognising him.

Darren on the other hand.... well that period when the grey hair starts to grow does artificially speed up the process.

Hear hear,

Thanks for a very warm welcome and being so accomodating. You chaps made it really easy for a Valve/DIY newbie like me to feel at home (especially as I'm such a shy/retiring type ) . Thanks for taking time out, sorry if some of my questions might have sounded a bit dumb but I'm a learner.

Likewise Paul, Peter, Darren, John, Little Mick and NealG, very nice to meet you all too. Aplogies if I've left anyone out.

Pity we couldn't A/B the WD88VA against the KEL84 but I was very impressed with the WD88 and WD25T's. I didn't know about room nodes and after Peter explained why the sounds changed depending where I sat I was enlightened. I personnaly prefer a fuller/warmer sound that I found in the centre seat at the back of the 2 rows. Some may have found it too 'full on' but thats my preference, the kick drum thump and Acoustic bass from Ira Coleman's playing on the Ernest Ranglin CD sounded far more controlled than I was use to here at home.

A VERY enjoyable day, it was my first ever Hi Fi show (aged 40 3/4's too )

Thanks again everyone for your time help and advice, looking forward to Eggfest more now than ever, I'll work towards getting my all-valve Phono pre finished in time.

All the best

Dave the bass.
