Thumbs up Loudspeakers and other WD kit...

Hi Peter,

With regards the new kit - excellent!
You have managed to get World-Designs to hit the ground running with a great looking loudspeaker kit and a superb article in HFW, congratulations to both you and Noel.

As a user of Heybrook Sextets I won't be buying this kit, but I am looking forward to WD developing a broad range of kits and components.

Best wishes,
Matt.

Question Re: Loudspeakers...

My pleasure Peter.

As you are about to have the WAD World and his wife (scrub that!) ask (or tell) you anyway, what else do WD have planned?

Will you be purely valve in amplification?
Will you be giving the 16 bit fellows their DAC and transport?
Will you be doing a vinyl source 'thing'?

Still too early to give you all the details.

Certainly the valve amplification beckons as there is so much to be done there and the results are so promising.

If we can find a way of making a 'good' transistor amp that isn't too complicated to build then we may look at that.

I'm investigating a method of doing a vinyl source but it's going to take a lot of work. You'll have to be patient on that one, but it is on the list.

I've seen the requests for a DAC. Again we're investigating how to bring something new to the question of 'digital sound'. I'd like to see a new appraisal of filtering but, again, it's going to take a lot of development.

Having said all that, this forum and its projects are all about how to make hi-fi equipment that sounds 'better'. We won't be doing designs just for the sake of it - there will always be a sound reason (sorry!) for each project.

I'm about to load a 'Wish List' forum, and hope that we can gather results using a poll. Should be interesting.

Yes, hopefully this will continue, the old BB tended to wander without any input from the people running the show.
