Default Denon dL-103r

Got a phone call the other day from a guy that I used to by records from locally (he has since moved to the south of France), asking if I was interested in buying some more of his collection , we got talking about cartridges and he mentioned that he had a brand new 103R that he bought, fitted and hated the sound of ,so stuck it in the drawer for the last 4 years .
He offered it to me for £70 posted , I have always wondered what the fuss was all about with the denon 103's so would love to give it a try but.......

Has anyone tried the 103 or 103R on a Hadcock 242 arm ?

Are these compatible ?

Stuart

A 103R will certainly work in a Hadcock and will produce good results. It won't be the ultimate sound but at £70 it'll be a significant deal. If you're not currently into more expensive cartidges, I'd suck this one up definately. Personally I'm not a fan of the 103 and its brigade, but I do recognise why they like it and certainly it'll perform well for you if you don't need a more refimed presentation.

I have a 103R on my formula 4/ TD160, and think it sounds as good as I have ever had it. Though not ideal in compliance compatability, I still rate this cartridge very highly amongst the dozen or so I have previously owned.
For that price you could buy it and sell it again even if you don't like it.
