Camembert electrique
OK, it's a bit weird...! I admit it.
I just bought it on vinyl from Amazon and it is astonishing. The recorded level is fabulous as you would expect from a 1970 album or whenever it was initially released. The sound is amazing with everything being so well recorded. I guess that was something to do with the full moon at the time of recording or so Mr Daevid Allen would have you believe. If you are a fan of the Canterbury scene and it's many bands, I very definitely recommend this album on vinyl. It goes down extremely well with the new DL160 and would probably be made a lot better with a spliff.

Re: Camembert electrique
Now i know why read hasheesh when I read your user name.
Yes I have a friend who works for Gong, there is a mailing list one can join if one so desires. Many tips on it about which of the later records, <still being released> sound like the earlier better known ones such as electique. http://www.planetgong.co.uk should get you in the zone. Nowadays I believe the canterbury bands (all concerned parents themselves) mostly advise or advocate youngsters dont do the evil weed thing due to the GM stuff -called skunk- being nothing at all like what was consumed way back when and now I agree with the common view that it is harmful to 'the younger brain' due to this GM skunkworks technology. As to how this situation came about I do not know..... all very suspicious . However I hope you enjoy your music and endure your sobriety as best you can. |

I have to confess to preferring 'Flying Teapot' to Camemebert Electrique.

Re: Camembert electrique
Kenny K I don't mind what format it takes really. I bought this on vinyl because it was there to buy, that's all. In the future I'll look out for the 'Teapot' albums as I may well get one on CD. Regarding vinyl though, this really does sound amazing using my new Denon DL160 cartridge.
