Default Forum Announcement

Hi All

Apologies, but the forum architecture was accidentally damaged during a "tidying" process - the vase fell off the mantelpiece while the mantelpiece was being dusted!

We are now re-established - a fairly significant moving of furniture, to continue the metaphor - but only as from the last full back-up which was mid-afternoon on 30 May. There may yet be unforeseen problems arising; please don't hold back from reporting them!

Everything between then and yesterday afternoon will not have "happened"; there will be posts that have disappeared and there will be new members who are now no longer members. For existential enquirers, quite an interesting experience - not quite so much fun for me, though. Please accept our apologies and please do re-post and re-apply.

Best regards,

Matthew

Colin,

At least you didn't delete the whole of the internet, that would have been bad.

Phil.

Surely amongst all the members there must be at least one competent IT man who can keep an eye on the forum.

Loads of truly experienced British IT people have lost their jobs over the years to cheap labour from Asia,. Cheap and make loads of mistakes. This post is made on a s/hand system I bought cheaply from a friend who has a couple of decades of experience. Is V bulletin the best software to use, how much is the annual cost? You can set a forum up for less than €60 p.a.

For those who hav'nt tried it, LInux is way better than that awful Windows 10. My PC uses Linux 4. Watching a good IT man setting a system up is something else.

I can't believe how long it took the forum software to load my post. I live in the country but the connection speed is very fast as is my PC, something is very wrong.
