No introduction, no why a S20 is wanted, 1st posting..................

I'm not by nature a suspicious soul, I'm catching it off Bob!

If it's a serious enquiry, You aint getting my Stereo20 at any price and that leads me to the obvious.......... if all you want is a vintage 10Watt EL84valve amplifier then do the sensible thing and buy A KEL84. Not Vintage but if you build it carefully it'll be reliable and be more suited to todays sources. And a fraction of the price.

Personally, old Leaks, Quads, Radfords etc have entered the world of collectibles and like such things they command prices way in excess of their performance.
You can get a stereo20 to sound very good, all it takes is a set of modern resistors and decent Film and electrolytic capacitors and a good clean, assuming the mains and output transformers are still in good nick. But beware of the dreaded "tweakers" who do unspeakable things to lovely old period pieces.

Hi Paul,

Andy's referring to the customary intro posts as per the Sales/Wanted rules,
http://www.world-designs.co.uk/forum...ead.php?t=6276
to promote ads for members rather than visitors or traders.

Folk will have more confidence in buyers/sellers if they have been here a while.

That said I've had a Stereo 20 which I fully rebuilt and it worked well but was not as good imho as 2 KEL84s here at home in the same era about 15 years ago.

As Andy says there is now a collector premium on these so get a borrow/listen to one if you can. If you are used to Quad IIs for example you may be disappointed but I imagine they were a different price back in the day.

Good luck tracking one down but don't pay too much and be prepared to do some updating/repairs would be my thoughts
