Default k5881

I was lucky enought to get ahold of 2 of these, so my valve enthusiasm is rekindled.

I plan to do a little fiddling, not too much, but here are my thoughts.

They are the original mk1 with the ef86 triode wired.

I plan to pentode wire one.

Then do the mark 2, perhaps a srpp ecc83, and then mooo! it

maybe even an anode into cathode follower first stage direct coupled.

or parallel the anodes up

I may fiddle with the output putting el34s in and kt88s to try.

and then some capacitor experiments with couplers, I plan to get some OLD sprague caps. a la 1950s amps to try.

and maybe some modern couplers, too.

And maybe obtain the k5881 pse output transformers and pse one or just bridge them both..

or perhaps do a williamson implementation with ecc82s its very straightforward, so I can compare a williamson with a mullard amp.

should be great fun...watch this space if interested.

Its a really simple easy to understand circuit, mullard 5-20 basically, and easy layout so fiddling is invited, I may even try some really low value psu caps vs some big ones to see what sounds better, the joy of these is its all pretty simple to play
