Default Marantz 52SE mkII skipping

HO Dear
Now it’s the turn of my ever reliably Marantz 52SE mkII to start skipping I have had this player from new since 1992 my first ever CD player never had a problem with it except to replace a new gear wheel in the drawer system about five years ago
Now last night for the first time ever it has started to skip on some tracks I have done the obvious checks like cleaning the laser with cotton bud with OPA also checking the laser ribbon cable
I did read somewhere that replacing the capacitors around the IC chip where the laser ribbon enters the PCB can fix this which seems reasonably as caps would now be 20plus years old now
has anyone any suggestions on the truth in this fix or another fixes as this player is very good as a transport player with the EBay 2496 Dac in my view don’t really want to lose it
