SUB anyone?

Im thinking about adding a REL- t3 subwoofer to my valve amp/standmount speaker system to boost bass on poor seventies/eighties vinyl.I listen at night a lot and would like to boost low frequency's ,at low volume levels these seem to almost die.Has anyone any thought's about the wisdom of such a move,listening room/space/significant-other etc dictates floorstanders are out or id have a pair.
