Phil,

I have a load of uncoloured epoxy resin that I was going to coat the paito with and then sprinkle sand on it (non slip surface).

Now I have other plans after reading this!

You might want to speak to a guy called Ted at Ingilby Mariner in Glemsford (near us). He's very approachable and can sell you the resin quite cheap. He will probably be able to give you loads of advice as well. He's been working with epoxy resins for many years.

As for release agent I have been told that the plastic sheeting that florists wrap their flowers in is very good and gives a smooth finish too.

In regards to finish and filling it with glass beads or whatever, why don't you go a la novelty toilet seat.

Hi-my posts on this subject were June/July 2006 !

At the time it seemed a good idea but i have moved on now.

It would seem that slate is the way to go,as long as one is aware of the health hazards of working with it.
