Upgraded CD sound.
I have "upgraded" my CD sound.
First up is a Denon DVD-3910, which cost me £10 because it won't play DVDs or DVD-A. Fortunately it will play CDs and SACDs. Secondly, and only completed this morning, is a Raindrop-Hui (Ebay) TDA1541 DAC, with a valve and transformer coupled output stage. I mounted all the bits on a bit of white painted MDF (my trademark) and it's now in action. The initial impression (in oversampling mode) is very favourable, and I hope to try it in non-oversampling mode later on.

Re: Upgraded CD sound.
Well, after a few hours listening I'd say the new DAC in non oversampling mode was my favourite, but I need more time to assess things before making a proper decision.
And when I've got used to the "new" sound a return to the Beresford will make things clearer. To be fair, the Bushmaster 2 is not the top Beresford DAC, but it is a handy bit of kit. Whatever happens the Bushmaster will stay, even if relegated to Sky and TV.

Re: Upgraded CD sound.
Yes DACs are almost the new frontier aren't they. I'll be interested in how you find the new one after a week or two Philip
