Unhappy Re: Death of my WD88VA XL

Hi Guys,

Open heart surgery now underway. Replacing that mains TX was pretty tricky with the rest of the components, tag boards, wiring, etc already in place.

The rest of the re-wiring will take some time, but I want to be absolutely sure of the repair work.

Half term and work travel prevents me on much more progress for (believe it or not) the next three weeks. But I know the wait will be worth it!

I will keep you posted as I progress, but please don't expect too much for the next three weeks!

Many thanks to all, Nick

As we have had two failures (Nick W and one other) of the Schottky diodes in the DC Heater supply of the XL version we have tested and ratified the performance of the UF5408 in this position instead.

The Cree TO220 types in the HT circuit continue to have 100% reliability.

Good luck with the progress and if we can help further let me know.

wouldnt it be better to use an Minature Circuit Breaker in the B+ of the heater supply, they act far quicker than fuses and dont suffer as much a resistance as a fuse plus you can just reset them.
just an Idea.
