Top of the POPs 1972 on Ktell label....

Traks included The yellow rose of Texas and A white sports coat....

I was only five at the time but I remember the anticipation; waiting on the Dansette I had blagged from my mum, warming up. The tinkle of those ECL83's......

The first record I remember buying was Gilbert O'Sullivan's "I'm a Writer not a Fighter".

But I soon found "Deja Vu" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water", so I hope I've repented for that minor indiscretion.

Abbey Road was the first Album I wanted to buy, but after several weeks of waiting for the local record store cum TV shop to get it in after I placed my order I gave up and got Johnny Cash Live at San Quentin instead. Then I decided I didn't like this so much and took it back. Can't rightly remember if I replaced it with Abbey Road but I suppose I must have as I still have an ancient copy of it in my collection. Much later I also bought JC Live at SQ on CD.

Hi, I want to hold your hand, (not literally) The Beatles.
Waited outside British Home Stores for them to open
