Re: English folk
Try Spiers & Boden (violin & melodeon), superb once you get to like his voice and Bellowhead, which is them and a dozen other instruments for a larger sound. John McCusker 'Goodnight Ginger' has superb tunes and musicianship. Also Fairport Convention, Brass Monkey, Show of Hands and Lau who are being hailed as a britfolk supergroup.

Re: English folk
Excellent suggestion from Nick, and Mike Harding is not the only folk source on Radio 2. Many of the albums I've bought and come to love have been revealed to me by listening to evening programmes on Radio 2 especially 'world music' types. It's the old thing of hearing one broadcasted track, liking it, and then investing in the album on that basis. It's worked for me time and time again. Some of the dynamic test tracks many of us use on this forum have been revealed through this process.
Just make sure you are sampling through VHF radio and not digital Best wishes, Greg |

Re: English folk
I would go along with Tom Paxton, he's unique in the folk scene,
40 odd years of well observed lyrics, "Talking Vietnam pot luck Blues" is one of my favourites along with "Forest Lawns"
