Re: pye mozart hfs 20
Hi,
No the forum isn't "dead", but I think in common with many many other people in the country members of this forum are finding funds strained. Baggo's comments are not quite right or fair re the Pye HFS amplifiers. they were in the main steam of things but were different and were certainly not entry level. As far as refurb is concerned, look carefully at main smoothing elcos, any other elcos, resistors out of tolerance and any other capacitors that look suspicious. Once that is sorted sorted a new set of valves probably wouldn't hurt. Would offer to help further but am out of the country to get away from the accursed Olympics (We both hate sport) but can have a look when I get back John |

Re: pye mozart hfs 20
i restored one, my lad now has it, copper coupling caps, wired out the tone controls in the pre amp, new coupling caps there too, leave the old valves in if they work ok,( will sound much better than todays new production)
very very nice amp and worth a bit if in good working order mine had a grey muffed tone, but sorted sounded very clean ond open and lots of the finer points of recordings highlighted.. |
