WD25TEx First audition

Well, I´ve finally heard my WD25Ts for the first time. remember they were once 25As, used very little as due to an error the xovers were always for the Ts, then the drivers were stored for over a year and I have rebuilt them as Ts.
verdict - big sound, much bigger than my WD20Ts, go deeper too, better sense of depth but slightly aggressive and grey almost steely sounding. Am hoping they will sweeten up after a few hours.
Would anyone care to comment on what might be considered a reasonable run-in period.

I've liked my 25Ts from the start, but I hear something slightly different from time to time - obviously depending on what's playing, but also perhaps on what I'm expecting from a recollection of an earlier playing. Mood also plays a part, so there's a lot of subjectivity in it.

As to the "running-in period", I understand that there are some physical changes in the "machinery", but there must also be some changes in your own perception over time as you become familiar with it. So I don't believe there's a running-in period that's even approximately the same for everybody. What you hear may be a mixture of what the speaker is putting out and how your mind's processing it. As you well know, people can listen to music from the most abysmal trannies or to car radios accompanied by wind and road noise, and somehow screen out what they don't want to hear.

I wonder if I would hear the "steeliness" in your speakers.

Well, I´ve left them round at a mate´s house - he uses CD so will give them a gentle 24/7 running-in on a diet of Sugden A21a and 50s jazz. He assures me the sound has changed since Saturday for the better.
I can´t help agreeing with your views - the human ear/brain has the best error correction system ever.
Anyway, early days yet - will let you know how I get on.

I'd say 50 hrs should have them run in, based on how my own pair performed.
