Re: JoeList Archive
A brief description of what it is about would be helpful, please.

Re: JoeList Archive
Also see here for the modern Joelist archives these follow on from the ones referenced above.
What is it? Its an emailing list that was established by Joe Roberts of Sound Practices fame where valve audio chaps could do what we do on a forum before forums and BBSs where invented. Its never dies 'cos old valve people can't keep up with new technology like forums... The early days have some fantastically good information from a lot of valve gurus who for one reason or another are not on the web nowadays... Recently it can get a bit silly but there is still some good stuff every now and again James |

Re: JoeList Archive
I scrolled and scrawled through it and yes there is a huge amount of info. there.
I didn't find a whole library of 'Sound Practices' though. That would be a treasure trove. |

Re: JoeList Archive
For that you have to buy the CD when it is available... I've got a copy but it won't playback anymore....

Re: JoeList Archive
I've lost my copy, but I had already dumped it onto had disk. Faith in hard disks was very stupid wasn't it?
It had some good articles relevant at that time, most of todays diy comunity ideas have seeds in sound practices. Peter Qvortrup was colour photocopying SP whenI met him, he said Joe Roberts was happy with this. I don't know if Peter is still selling the photocopies. Vintagetubestalk was the best email list back then, the figureheads melted away after Ned of Triodeel pulled the plug. I don't think anyone kept an archive. The few guys I kept in contact with, Jonothan Noble being my closest friend from that list, saw how many toad of toad halls there were on the public forums who would all gang up on anyone who said anything that damaged the sales potential of their mates the USA manufacturers, quenching freedom of speech never found a new home. I stuck around and tolerated all the toadies on the public American forums, but I only dip in occasionally there is no sense of community like we had on Vintagetubestalk or like we have here. The joelist is no community at all it's a disjointed jumble of boaring rubbish.

Re: JoeList Archive
The Joelist was very good up until a couple of years ago,
it's sad really how it is now.... But there's an enormous amount of info in the old archives.... |
