If you say you have 2-pairs of 57's then why not stack them. There is quite a bit on the web about stacked pairs of quad57s. This will get over the shortcomings of the 57 as stand along speakers which are curtailed at both frequency extremes.

If you have a budget of £400 and fancy building your own amp then i would suggest you go for the World Designs KEL84. If you can hold back and save a little more cash then go for the WD88VA and of course if you can get it past the other half stack the quads.

Hi Toppsy, i got the 2nd pair for the living room, but the long term goal is to stack them since i've heard and read so many good reports of these stacked, as for the amp, thanks for the suggestion, i'd thought about the KEL84, and really fancied ago at self build, mind you maybe selling some of my older stuff will help fund a WD88VA.....
