Default A PC question?

Hi all,
I got delivery yesterday from the States of some very hi-spec. mil. wire, namely 20 AWG stranded s/plated annealed copper wire.

I made a few homebrew PCs from a recipe on the old WAD forum. I can't remember what it's rating was but I doubt it was as good as this Raychem wire I have now which is: 600V/200C.

The WAD recipe was for 6 woven/twisted lengths per +/- and 1 length for earth.

I would have thought that this is excessive, especially for TTs and CDP, which don't use lots of juice. Now this wire is really thin but none the less, with 6 woven strands, it is still difficult to wire up a plug, UK or Shuko type.

In the past I used to solder the wires - I don't like this idea and will try reaming out the pin holes but the question is this - is 6 lengths of wire really nec or would 3-4 lengths be sufficient, this is specifically about power cords for power amps.
