Suggestions for the best ECC83's at reasonable price?

I've had Golden Dragons, and these were unbelievably noisy (maybe I got a bad batch).

I've had NOS (suspect these were OOS) Mullards, and these were very woolly.

The JJ's supplied with the amp were pretty good, but have gone a bit noisy now.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Yes I'm also seeking Help with best Valves for the phonoII i will be using MM gold ring 1042 Cart out @ 5mA output i think any thought on the 7025/12ax7

you could also try ecc81 and 6072, but it will obviously change the riaa.

sovteks spiral wound is pretty good, as is eh.

NOS - Mullards first choice for best sound balance and they don't always need to be expensive, next Brimars as these are still reasonably priced and sound almost as good as Mullards. For modern valves check out Sovteks from the mid 90s for a crisp clear sound and they are nice and cheap, next JJs for a richer sound but they do go noisy after a short while, I also used RCAs 12AX7s in a Leak Stereo 20 years ago which were pretty good but I can't seem to find them to carry out a new test. I am on my last set of Mullards so I will be on the look out for some more shortly, hopefully, I'll find some more at the local boot sale.

The advice on 5751s is worth considering seriously, I think Watford valves have good stocks.
