Hi, I don't know the speaker you speak of but is it this kit,

http://www.audioxpress.com/reviews/m...dell2119-1.pdf

If so it fills a wish I've had for a while since getting interested in Valves which is to try a full range driver.

cheers

The Adires are not a full range driver. Like the old Tannoys they have a bullet tweeter in the middle of the diaphragm.

I had a pair once; they hint at real greatness but theyare so very different from e.g. Isobariks or for that matter LS3/5as. They are 95db sensitive so good for even 2A3SE amps. A KEL84 would get them really cooking.

If I had enough time and money I would not have sold them on. I like'em.

But then Isobariks are quite incredible and unique.

I looked at the review, it was in 2002, frightening how time passes! I have a copy of the pdf from the diy supplement if anyone feels they need it.

Hi John-the link you inserted is the one !

As Andrew says there is a compression tweeter which fits behind the acousticly transparent dust cap.

My pair are slightly different to the ones that Clive/Andrew/David have (had) as they had subtle design mods but not having heard both types cant comment on the sound.

Hi Phillip,
I am slowly finding out about my previous sheltered life since I joined the forum.
I hadn't even heard of a compression tweeter in the dustcap till now.
Open baffle speakers is another one.

Live and learn.

cheers
