Default Trading

In the interests of clearing some air, it has transpired one or two suspect me of being a trader.

So I will attempt to correct this.

I am categorically not a trader, and do not make a living out of selling hifi.

I am an enthusiast like the rest of you, and yes have bought and sold things, as have most people here. However, this was as of me being an enthusiast buying things to try, and then selling later to fund new purchases.

Try making a living out of selling £30 tuners and dacs and other things, and indeed, wad amps which aren't worth much at all.

many times for less than you bought them?

Doesn't sound like a good way to make a living does it now?

Add to that the frequency of the alleged trading, an item sold months apart, I find it impossible to think of any professional trader making a living by that.

And have inhabited this, and the previous forum and helped out where possible, provided advice, useful pointers and information, sometimes good, sometimes less so, to those that may benefit by it, with no interest in return, in the spirit of a forum.

So, the allegations are false, incorrect and untrue.

Indeed such allegations are hurtful and reputation damaging, precisely why allegations need to be 110% sure before making them.

I hope that puts an end to speculation, there is nothing I detest more than underhand traders inhabiting forums to curry interest in their own products.

Highly unprofessional and untrustworthy.

If anyone wishes further clarification, or even bring it out into the open, they may pm if I have room, email or even continue this thread cordially, with the mods/Peter's grace.

Hi-i was mis informed in the past about Ian being a "trader" and i used this mis-imformation to accuse him on a forum post.

I have privately apologised to Ian for this slight on his reputation and i now apologise again in public.

I sold a 6000 Ki to Ian on eBay, we didn't know who each other was til after. He had a listen, and we compared notes, and he said he'd sell it on - as I had done. I just got my money back and there certainly wasn't any room for profit in the price he paid me, it's the way many of us get a listen to stuff.

like many of us i do the same, i have loads of kit that i have either bought because i want to listen to or because i thought it was good value or because i just wanted one...

My trouble is I now struggle to sell any of it .. all because i sold a mint thorens 124 for £125 a few years ago.. a mint 12" sme for the same.. and have regretted it ever since... life..

I'd had never thought as Ian as a trader.. and I've bought stuff off him and he off me..
most on this board buy and sell on ebay from what i've seen..does not make you a bad person.. you worry to much ian..

if I had some spare money I would be buying all sorts of things and trying them, there's so much that should be tried, this wouldn't make me a trader,
just an enthusiast,

don't worry Ian

Hi Ian,

Beleive in your own integrity.

I don't beleive in alot that you say, but I've never distrusted your honesty. Furthermore, I've never identified you as operating as a trader, but rather a 'butterfly' who can't really work out what sounds best for yourself

No disrespect. You are one of the nicest people I have met at an Eggfest and I think I've worked out your situation. Nice guy, not sure what sounds right, buy and sell regularly to find a solution, but not able to consolidate what sounds good for you. You'll have to keep up the search. In this, trader you are not.

Best wishes,

Greg

Real nice guy, and if you were trading it wouldn't have bothered me, but I don't believe you were.

We have kept friends even when I have had a go at you on the forum, because we are different, but we share some similarities.

Keep up your input.
