Speakers with Ribbons!!

Since Peter designed the Heybrook Sextets it would be great to see a loudspeaker kit featuring a ribbon or leaf HF unit. From postings aroud this site it's clear they have a dedicated bunch of fans, I know I'd buy such a kit in a flash.

Would be nice to have a design utilising an Aurum Cantus Ribbon,Audax PR170MO mid/bass with a big 15 incher at the bottom end.I am lead to believe that ribbons do best in a 3 way is that correct?

Yes, ribbons generally do best in a 3-way, or a small bass driver 2-way, because you need a mid driver with good power dispersion into the room to match the characteristics of the ribbon and avoid the otherwise inevitable audible discontinuities.

So the PR170MO might not work too well plus, of course, it is not available any more. A good 15cm or 12cm driver should be ideal.

Keep a lookout in the HFW Speaker design series as something like this will appear eventually!

Audax PR170MO has been re released e speakers stock it,Also could you use this ribbon on an ES14 successfully? if so what sort of crossover.

Hopefully with an aperiodic Bass system

I would like to see a larger standmounter developed from WD25 perhaps with closed box paper cone mid and Ribbon arrangement.
