Two things were wrong :- I think I had left one of the diode stems too long and it may have been touching the chassis and I had wired the volume pot the wrong way around!!! Doh! Some serious late night listening planned ce soir!!! Regards Richard |

Well thats good, now you are on the slippery slope, you'll be doing a lot of pot wiring, and hunting in junk shops for useful valve bits, it's only a matter of time before a Kel84 or 88 kit is needed to hit the spot. Don't fight it: give in! you know it makes sense. Welcome onboard. Terry. |

It is my fortyeth birthday next month....what have I asked my family for?? A KEL84 of course!!!! Maybe I can sell 6 Cyrus boxes (my current method of amplification!!!)....and then update my Revolver Rebel turntable...and....and..... Oh no.....Ive gotton the bug!!! Regards Richard |

Welcome to the delights of Valve audio don’t be in a big hurry too sell your cyrus stuff off if you can try to borrow a valve Pre.Amp and hook it up to your Cyrus amp you may well be surprised as the results

Mmmm...funny you say that as I did wonder whether my Cyrus Pre amp was the weak link and how mono'd power amps might sound on the end of something more esoteric! |
