Fridge Thermostat
All was well last night untill a very loud crack came from centre stage. After much poking about it turned out to be the fridge. This morning I have removed the thermostat and fitted a suppressor (maplin rg22). Problem solved, but i was supprised to find that one was not fitted in the first place. Without suppresion, the contacts will have become pitted, this causes them to stick together, and then arc as they part. It's not a very old fridge, about 5 years, so I will get a new stat and fit that with a suppressor.
There must be lots of stuff out there that needs one. Terry |

Re: Fridge Thermostat
My biggest source of interference is my Gas Central Heating Boiler.
It is less than 5 years old and is already on its 5th Main Control PCB, ( replaced under warranty). Last time it broke down i noticed there are a collection of relays on this PCB which spark very brighly when the unit switches on. I suspect that these relays not only cause my RFI but also self destruct the PCB itself as it is covered with IC's that must be affected by these arcing contacts. |

Re: Fridge Thermostat
Hi Martin213.
Ho ho ho!! very good. I guess you are not in the know about the sonic properties of Haier fridges as amp supports. Also useful for keeping vinyl at a constant temp to prevent warping. Terry. |
