Thumbs up Re: RB250/300 mods

Hi,
In 1986 i bought a Roksan Xerxes and rb300 combo and used happily until 2 years ago when i fitted Incognito one piece wire and Michell counterweight. Not knowing that the rb300 was grey i thought it was great, and i was very surprised by the change in sound.I turned my record deck into a c.d. player!! The plingy type sound has gone and solid bass arrived. However after listening for so long i still pine for the light twangy sound although i know it is better now.Although more accurate i used to like the over emphasis on guitar twang that it had,it seemed exciting although artificial whereas now it is serious.
For me the best part of the improvement was to properly earth the arm as it was always a bit hummy,a tenfold reduction in background noise.I suppose it was worth it although different rather than massively better.
