Hi Kelvin,
First need to know what cable you are using, The Soniqs white PTFE or the kit blue cable.

It's the kit blue twisted pair screened cable. I just wondered if the screens only need to be connected at the relay board end or if they should be connected to something at the pot end as well (can't think of what though).

I have done both channels now (screen trimmed back) and am enjoying the amp very much.

I'm not sure whether it sounds so sweet simply because it's my first valve amp or how much is because I'm slightly biased as it's something that I built myself.

Thanks again to all for the help.

Kelvin

Hi Kelvin,

I had the old WAD version Kel84 as _my_ first valve amp and it was a VERY sweet sounding amp. There are also loads of upgrades that can be done to improve it even further to your own tastes. I found that the Jensen coupling caps worked very well in it (for me).

Have fun!

Cheers,
Tony

Hi Kelvin,
I only asked as I didn't want to confuse you. You seem to have solved it anyway but for future I always earth the screens at the "send" end.
eg input connectors. It doesn't really matter at all as the earthing path is carried by the second core of the cable but in a lot of cases does make the wiring up easier.
Well done!
