Re: I Want One!!!
Hi Greg,
It sounds fascinating caving and finding things like that underground! Do you know anything about their intentions for the place? I hope they develop it in the way they have "The Secret Bunker" in Cheshire. It's always amusing to see the tourist info signs pointing out "The Secret Bunker"! Tony |

Re: I Want One!!!
Where is that "Secret Bunker" in Cheshire Tony ?? I am from Chester originally (Kinnerton) so know the surrounding areas quite well. I know there is a cold war bunker under the fire station in Mold, if you know that area at all.

Re: I Want One!!!
Hi Lee,
I didn't know about the one in Mold! The one I'm talking about is the Hack Green Bunker near Nantwich. http://www.hackgreen.co.uk/index.htm I've not been to it yet, was going to give it a look last year but never got around to it. Cheers, Tony |

Re: I Want One!!!
At our local gchq, Irtom Moor, when their valves were routinely replaced they put them in test rigs and turned them up and up unti they destructed for research. I bet they get those 212's up to some politically incorrect voltages!
Don't think there are any undergound routes in though. Most of Scarborough Amatuer Radio club have worked there and up the road at the Golf Ball early warning station.

Anyone interested in bunkers should see this site. Quite astonishing where you can find them. I didn't know the Mold one existed until I read this site. Here is the Mold bunker Tony. http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/sites/m/mold/index.html There is also one up in Rhydymwyn. http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/sites/r/rhydymwyn/

Re: I Want One!!!
Thanks Lee.
I have to confess to being an armchair subterranean features enthusiast! I know, wierd. Perhaps I was a miner in a previous life? I don't suppose you've visited the Williamson Tunnels in Edge Hill, Liverpool? Tony |

Re: I Want One!!!
Hi Paul,
Nice one , although once I had a cavers physique, and for the site under discussion, you don't need to be that thin. Actually, my biggest problem was always the size of my thorax. I once went through a place in Mendip, Swildons Hole called 'Bang Squeeze'. The guy that went through before me told me to take off all my clothes as otherwise I'd not make it. I wasn't going to do that and responded verbally accordingly. I did get through, but it was weard to experience the need to exhale and reduce the thorax capacity before exerting the energy to push through the gap. I did make it in the end, although had a fit of laughter half way through. Well you would when you contemplate what a rediculous situation you've got yourself into Anyway, the Corsham site is far more accessable without any silly squeezes. Actually, the issue is about being quiet and not disturbing anything because it is so unstable, the sky could fall on your head at anytime (said Chicken Licken!......can you remember that?) Best wishes, Greg |
