Depends on the valve model used. If the model lets it move into grid current and Class A2 operation with rapidly dropping input impedance then you can drive the beastie beyond the static Vg volts... Since the ECC88/6922 valve will tolerate this without killing the driving stage one way or another and JRB knows this he has probably got a more accurate model than our just treat 0V as the cutoff point for signal assumption...

Its still going to rapidly increase distortion on peaks though but its soft clipping (i.e. compression) rather than hard clipping - lets just slice the top off!!

it is an easy build isn't it?
have you put it in basie?

put your ecc82 in 2nd place
after ecc88 and let us know
should sort out any edginess
