Thanks Dr John. Once connected to the mains what 'ballpark' voltages should I be looking for? Obviously I can compare as I have more than one to test, but it would be good to know what should be expected.

Hi Martin,
It is difficult to say due to all sorts of things but around +10/15% would be in the right area, if it is lower than the rated voltage, ie 5Vac should read a minimum of 5Vac no load, be very suspicious, probably shorted turns and also the magnetising current will be up.
I will try to measure my magnetising current today to assist further.

Magnetising current of my pair of 300B txs is approx 130mA ac.
