Re: Simple diy horn speakers
In the FH3 I would choose any the new generation Mak Audio speakers ie CHR70, CHP70 or Alpair7. I haven't heard the new Fostex FF125WK may be worth a serious look.
If you want a more natural and very easy to listen to sound with an emphasis on vocal and single singer clarity as a prime factor in your listening then perhaps the paper coned CHP70. But this driver really needs a supertweeter helper. For this I recommend the CSS ERT26 1" silk dome tweeter using a simple L-pad and inline cap to XO around 12K. http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=ERT26 If you want a more punchy sound with better top end that doesn't require a supertweeter helper then go for the metal coned CHR70. If you want the same as the CHR70 but with a lot more detail and refinement then the top of the range Alpair7 is the one to go for. All 3 have very good bass as they have a 6dB lift built into the driver chain to avoid the need for a baffle step correction (BSC) circuit. |
