Replacement Knee

Well I have been into hospital, had a new knee joint fitted, still alive and back home, do I here something, thought we had got rid of him, anyway the op. took just one hour and I chose to stay semi awake, sitting here at the keyboard the knee hurts with quite a bend on it but it is amazing that the day after the op. they get you out of bed to try and walk, I think it will be quite a little time before I can walk without sticks, must keep doing the exercises, anyone els had a knee joint, let us know. BOB

Did you go for the nos tube knee, or the modern digital binary one? Cyro'd? =)

Ha ha, well done Bob, on the right side of the job now and the weather's turned nice for sitting in the garden True story, when my wife had similar (but smaller) op for a titanium toe joint I forgot she was sitting out in the garden without sticks and she sat there as it turned to rain after an hour, I was not popular oh, and don't go getting it wet either or it will sieze up like the tin man

Thank's for all the comments, good to be back home, but now the hard reabilitation starts, for about 14 years I have been walking badly and could not stop a pig in an ally, the surgen has straightened the left knee and I have now got to learn to walk again, it is hard work. I should soon have the X-Ray of the new knee, when I get I will try and post a picture here and let you decide if it's NOS or not. BOB

At least the "kick start" knee is fully functioning.

Yes, glad the op went well. Now your serious work starts and it's worth applying yourself to it fully. My Dad had his knees done but didn't apply himself to the after op exercising properly and in consequence he failed to find new improved mobility. Work hard now and you should do well

Hi all and thank's for more comments, to address Andrew first, they give an epiderual block in the spinal cord that paralises the legs compleatly so you feel no pain, the top half of the body is still as normal, sight, hearing speach etc, this is done so all the vital organs can still work as normal, then a small amount of anastetic is given just to relax the body, so not so brave. Greg, yes it has been made very clear to do the exercises. Philip, dont think that I will be kicking until the spring. All the best and thank's to you all. BOB
