Hi Philip
Yep I am not saying foobar is no good but headphones Listenings a bit different to speaker as you are hearing more detail than you are from most speakers especially at the treble end of the sound spectrum

which makes it sound to bright and forward and compress but that’s not just the fault of foobar much seems to depend on the rest of the setup used as well I did also find that foobar crashed my computer on occasions
It does seem that the JRiver player is more suited to my system and sounds
more real to me and looks better too

I have to say I am not a big fan of computer sound really I find it a bit to clinical and it is really a secondary device for me but that’s just my view I am sure many are happy with it to me it’s a bit like the vinyl v CD arguments
I have not yet tried the computer dac combo on the main system speakers yet

as I don’t have long enough lead to do this for now But slipping the WM8741 Dac into the main system is proving very well but will still benefit from a bit more burn-in time yet

Hi,
Interesting comments from everyone I'll keep them all in mind when my Txs arrive and the dac gets powered up.
Colin,
I think that prog you got JRiver is a trail 30day version if its free, may be worth checking. As to reasonable priced enclosures I will be going for the Galaxy ones from Italy I think.
Philip,
thanks for the links i will be getting some enclosure and covers from Italy soon. Covers for the JLH amps (at last0
Any ideas about Bristol scrum next month?
would like to meet and swap ideas.
Martin

Yes the JRrivers is a 30day trail but its works well and is a must try at least it is better that foobar on headphones in my view you don’t need your dac to try it just plug the headphones in to the computer and set it up and have a play change the DPS

Yep I will mostly likely buy the JRivers software
But I have just one problem with it and that is some of my Cd's are listed in the library in Chinese language for some reason the settings are set for English UK
