Any members going to Tonbridge next Sunday?

I'll be hovering around there with a couple of friends. Not expecting to see anything much in the way of bargains, the well's about run dry now on vintage Valve kit. IMHO.

Not a lot of decent Vintage kit, the well is definitely running dry.

Couldn't believe some prices. A fairly tatty Leak stereo30 and the vendor wanted £125!!!! A mate commented, "I'll give you the £25".

A few Garrard 401's average price £400, probably the going rate for a restoration job these days.

I picked up a pair of Radiospares SE output transformers for a Mullard 3-3 based project, looked well over sized for the job so I am hoping they'll sound good.

And at the end I took a friends Clarke and Smith 88/12 "Schools Radio" off his hands for a token amount. It needs a lot of nasty Hunts black capacitors and some sticky waxy things replaced before I even think about bringing it up slowly on a variac.......... wish I had one LOL.
We all remember the big wooden boxed radios at school, it's a well made bit of kit all bits well accessible. Auxiliary input and an EL84 Push pull output stage good for around 10 watts. Typical of the era, built down to a cost but the power amp stage will be so easy to slightly mod for better balance (junk the commoned cathode resistor and bypass cap) and if I can get it working and reliable it may end up being used in our village hall for the odd dance etc. We live in the old primary village school so the radio seemed an apt thing to accquire.
