Hi All

I've not been pursuing this project because everyone seems to want something slightly different. John knows this and understands, but I should really have posted to that effect. Sorry!

To put things bluntly, there's been a fairly decent recession recently and Hi Fi has been particularly badly affected. World Designs is very well placed to ride things out - and will continue to "be there" for anyone with enough discrimination to want one of our stunning kits - or parts for upgrades and spares. But that's really about it until things pick up a bit. Tooling up a new project like this is £many thousands which isn't currently sitting there in the bank!

If we had (and John has already pointed this out) 25 firm orders - and remember there would be folk dropping out along the way - we'd do it. It's a lovely amp. Having had a quick trawl through this thread we've had 3 or 4 "interested" and the about the same number of people who would actually want one. So we're not there yet...

Good points Matthew.

For me, I think a remote control option on pre3 and WD88 even if just for the volume pot would make it a bit more desirable.
That and an option for a Cathode follower, unity gain buffer might open the market for some other enthusiasts.

My feelings are that 30 Watts from the WD88VA is plenty. Power isn't the be all and end all.

In smaller rooms like mine, 10 watts is enough to make one's ears bleed............................................. ........

ok that was a bit tongue in cheek, but for me there'd be more value to the home constructor in resurrecting the speaker kits, in one form or another as decent high effiency speakers are thin on the ground and pound for pound depending on how good you are at carpentry that's an area you'll really get value for your pound.

I just read this thread. I would be very interested, provided output impedance gets low enough to drive stats.

May I suggest to approach Noel Keywood? Maybe a feature in HiFi World could raise sufficient interest?

Alternatively, would it be possible to modify the kt88 to run kt120 or even kt 150? I realize this would mean new trafos...
