Nagaoka MP200

Hello All,

After much deliberation I have bought a MP200. I have only listened to a few albums so far but I am very happy with how it is sounding. It sounds super smooth and relaxed but still with a lovely open and detailed midrange. The treble is really smooth as well, no edginess or spit. The only downside compared to the cartridge it replaced (Goldring 1042) is a slightly softer bass but this is a price well worth paying as it is so much more pleasurable to listen to. I don't really like the term "musical" as it is so vague, but I can't think of better word for the MP200 at the moment.

It's a lovely cartridge alright. I use one and am very happy with it. Out of curiousity what phono do you use with it? Mine is a Yaquin 22B which I actually quite like but I'm seriously considering upgrading it. Have a feeling the cartridge has more to give yet than what I'm hearing.

Hello Hal55,

My Phono is basically a WD Phono. The audio section is built on a Phono II PCB but with some of the more recent mods in the FAQ. The PSU is my own concoction and all built into one chassis re-used from an older project. I have compared it to a factory built Phono III and there was very little difference. They both sounded excellent !
