Humming Mains Transformer
Hi All,
The mains tx on one of a pair of WAD Monoblocs hums away when hot. Can anything be done? I've already mounted it on thick silicon. Thanks David |

Re: Humming Mains Transformer
I have the same problem, John mentioned sending it away to be re-inpregnated with varnish. Worth a try I guess.

Re: Humming Mains Transformer
Hmmm, my 300B PP clone mains Tx does this from cold. Apparently other have the same experience. My difference from you is that when the amp has been on for a while any the Tx has warmed up (and no doubt the plates have expanded) the localised hum is considerably reduced. I'm talking hum from the actual Tx here and not from the speakers.

Re: Humming Mains Transformer
Yep, this hum direct from the transformer. The amp runs absolutely silently apart from this. Does anyone know who made the Txs for the 300b push pull Monoblocs?
