Re: KAT 6550 C11 PIO did sweat !!!
Hi Neil, you may be lucky to find that your capacitors are not leaking because the heat in a Pre is not as much as in a power amp, and it is the heat that is the problem. BOB

Re: KAT 6550 C11 PIO did sweat !!!
Thanks for the tip. I remember the Jupiter Wax caps were a problem in most power amps for that reason. Still 14 years or so for a Pioneering cap is probably suggesting an upgrade is near!!

Re: KAT 6550 C11 PIO did sweat !!!
I recall several people over the years reporting oil loss from AN PIO's. Where I have PIO, I have used Jensen without any such problems. Jensen can be bought straight from the company in small quantities and service, packaging and quick postage is excellent.

Re: KAT 6550 C11 PIO did sweat !!!
The pdf circuit showed 500R and some kits may have been supplied with them but it was 680R in the mag article and in the later tune up article. The 6550s may be fine on 500R, depending on your local mains voltage, but check the valves for overheating as they are run pretty much on the limit dissipation-wise and 560R or 680R will give them an easier time
