Default Hummmmmm. . . . . .

After 14 years of exemplary performance, my 6550 has developed a hum. Due to an increasing level of deafness, I am quite unable to hear this but it is causing substantial irritation to others who are determined that I do not escape their irritation.

Given that this fault is inaudible to me, it is unlikely that I shall be able to diagnose the source of the problem. It could be argued that being as deaf as a post, the qualities of the 6550 are lost on me and this I accept, just as I acknowledge that the performance of my Tannoys is beyond me so I might be better off spending my money on a small Onkyo or something. But as I think I have said previously, I derive much satisfaction from listening to the best, even if I can't hear it.

So I am seeking the help of someone competant and not a million miles from Exeter.

Any suggestions, anyone, please?

Hi Baggy

Do be in touch if you like - John is truly excellent at long distance diagnostics (as well as everything else). I started out with the 6550 and you stand a chance of a cure ...

Sorry for the delay in responding - Mallorca called; hot! - and frankly, I'm glad to be back. You can get my contact details from the website.

Cheers,

Matthew
