Best new manufacture 12ax7s
Hi,
Is there any consensus on what are the best modem production 12ax7 valves? I need to buy 3 for my EAR 834P MM Clone positions v1, v2, v3 While we are at it for 12au7s as well Thanks Lee |

Re: Best new manufacture 12ax7s
Hello Lee,
I think a consensus on something like that is fantasy frankly Better to just ask for suggestions I would say. I have not tried many but my current favourite for my phono is the JJ ECC803S. Previously I used the Sovtek 12AX7LPS but the JJs were smoother and generally more sophisticated sounding. I don't have any current production '82s. Phil.

Re: Best new manufacture 12ax7s
Hi lee/All
Yes I use the JJ ECC803S in my WD phono2 also use the sovtek 12ax7 There is the 5751 but has a lower gain of 70 12ax7 has a 100 so if my need lower gain the 5751 in your man 👨 I am using one 5751 in the output and two JJs at the input of my WD phono 2 very nice sound I will use the same valve set-up for the WD phono 3S when I get round to building it Colin

Re: Best new manufacture 12ax7s
Thanks for the input,
I have just ordered a matched trio of JJ ECC803s tubes from Karltone. It was an extra £2.50 per tube to match them, I hope its worth doing. https://www.karltone.co.uk/jj-ecc803...ecc83-22-p.asp Lee |
