A lot of DDs are rhythm-less, just as some idler and belt drives are. But the best of the breed, and the SP10 is amongst them, are quite amazing in what they can do. I've a Pioneer PL-L1000 here which I bought after hearing one at David Price's home.
But there is possibly nothing like the character of bass given by a 401 in good fettle like Greg's.
