Good morning Richard, yes, I beat you to it, but Chris, if you have only had this cable for less than a year, send or take it back to Severn Oaks as Richard suggests, get your money back and by something cheap like from QED, I will put money on it that you will hear no difference, snake oil again . Thanks Richard/Bob, the video link shows basic method of fixing the plug, starts about 11 minutes in..held just by the shrink tubing, pin soldered and inner case soldered. The point of the post was to get some advice before making things worse, will advoid using super glue. Having them fixed for £178 is not an option.
I hope that I did not imply that these sound wonderful, never had the chance to hear them.

And the band played ( believe it if you like ) just a sales ploy, arguably the best way to attach a cable to a plug/socket is to use a crimp that produces a gas tight joint, very expensive to produce but results in almost 0 resistance, on the other hand, solder is fine and almost anyone can do it . Bob, 100% agree crimping is the best way to go, I did research but such equipment is very expensive, to get what they call a perfect cold weld.
