Re: PRE PHONO PSU 3 umbilical sockets and wiring
After extensive listening by myself and a friend here are our conclusions, as a start, the WD PSU and Phono are very good apart from the 3.18 correction that I and others have commented on, my Phono is basically as supplied in standard form with the removal of the 3.18 time constant, all important components were selected to as near perfect matching as I could get, vales are JJ Gold pin ECC83, PSU is as in the picture ( X 2 ) the first thing we both noted was how quiet Phono was compared to the standard PSU, bass took on a tighter presentation with more low level information, vocals now sound so much more natural and sibilance is also very natural, female vocals has always been unpleasant, hard sounding, now, so much smoother but with added detail that before was lost. I am now playing more records than CD and enjoying it. Morgan Jones book states and I quote, ( The best way of improving a power supply is to use a voltage regulator. ) ( A voltage regulator is a real world approximation of a Thevenin source ) Try one, I know you will not be disappointed.
